52 Portraits is live (and a giveaway)!

My 52 Portraits class is now live and in the Get Messy shop! Click here to go directly to the class.

It has been a pleasure to work on transforming my year-long project into a series of prompts to inspire other creatives who would like to go down a similar path. When you buy the class, you et a printable e-book containing 53 prompts that cover many themes like 'you', 'life', 'work' or 'family', my take on the prompt, photographing techniques and idea to help you find your own spin on the prompts. There is a class hashtag to help build a community.

If you think you would like to embark on a journey of self-discovery through self-portraiture, this is the class for you. If you'd like to try something like this but are afraid to run out of inspiration, this is the class for you. If you are put-off by the idea of taking 52 photos of yourself, this is the class for you. Anyway, who says it has to be photos? You could totally art journal these prompts. Everything is self-paced so you can start on your birthday or on  any random date of your choice.

I'm giving away one spot in the class (so to speak). Just leave a comment on this post telling me if it is hard or easy for you to find yourself in front of the camera. I will pick a random winner on Thursday Feb 4th at 6 pm Eastern time.

I cannot wait to see where this will take you !

  1. Humm... !!

  2. It's very hard for me to get behind the camera, although I have been trying more. I always think I look horrid.

  3. Yay! This is awesome. I find it really hard to take pictures with my phone, but taking pictures with my dslr feels much more comfortable. I think it's due to the "selfie" classification on the phone... and that article floating around Facebook that says if you take too many selfies you are a narcissist.

  4. I have a hard time being in front of the camera. I'm short so in group shots I always have to stand in the front.

  5. Congratulations on getting the class up! I really don't like taking pictures of myself. I don't mind how I look in real life but I feel like I really don't photograph well! I've become even more aware of it since having my daughter, I take so many pictures of her and she is still wonderfully unselfconscious. I really don't want to pass this hang up on to her, so maybe your class will help? :)

I really enjoyed seeing your self portraits on instagram throughout the project xx

  7. I enjoy taking selfies but as I have aged, I no longer see the young beauty I once was in the picture. I modeled some from 16-20 years of age, mostly runway locally in my city. I am now 54 and I would like to be able to show the beauty from within in pictures. As they say.. Beauty is only skin deep. I believe it is much more.

  8. I find it SO hard in front of the camera. Mostly for very vain reasons. In fact, I find it hard behind the camera sometimes too, various things hold me back from having the patience to get that brilliant shot. I want to take a leap out of my comfort zone and do your class from my 24th birthday this yearto becoming 25, which feels like a milestone (quarter century!) and is my favourite number of sorts. xoxo

  9. I never, never, never cross to the other side of the camera! It would be very good for me to gain some confidence...

  10. Am I too late?! I love self portraiture! But I haven't done any in a really long time... I'd love to work through your class! And I'm sure I will either way at some point ❤️
